THE REASON WHY WE COME

Let’s Give God some Praise!

Have you ever been in a church environment you wonder why they are here? I was talking to one of my sons who is currently on a state vacation, and he made to the commit to me Dad these guys come over to the church or the mosque for the wrong reason. Then he went on to tell me all the things that they be doing in there and why he felt they were wrong.

Once everything was done and said, my comment to him was is does not matter why they came just as long as they came. And my comment to you today is it does not matter why they come just as long as they come.

During this Christian walk we will encounter many who we may wonder the why they are hear, but I need to tell somebody that their why and our understanding of it is not important, let me say this again the reason is not important.

What is important is our understanding of God and the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 1:15-18 (KJV)
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel. 18 What then? Notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

The Word of God teaches us that there are many that preach the word of God for various reason. But what is consistent is that the word of God is being preached. But let me be perfectly clear, we are talking about the word of God according to the interpretation of the Holy Spirit and not the interpretation of some crack pot with a rob on.

And this is the understanding that we as believers must know about the word of God and the Holy Spirit. Jesus said in John that he had to go so that the comforter may come.

The Holy Spirit of God has a unique job to do when it comes to each of us. Each of us is a different challenge for the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit has a different way of dealing with each of us but the assignment of the Holy Spirit is the same for all of us.

John 16:7-9
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

It is the job of the spirit to make us see the sin in our lives, it is the job of the spirit cleanse us of this sin, is the job of the spirit to take away the old heart and change it to a new heart, it is the job of the spirit to cause us to walk in the statues of the lord.

Ezekiel 36:24-27 (KJV)
24 for I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you and heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

There is going to come a time when we finally wake up and understand that this body that we are living in is not our but belongs to the lord God. Corinthians says:

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (KJV)
16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

When you come into the knowledge that only the spirit of God can give, then we can begin to understand that the reason for why they come is not important just as long as they come. As long as the spirit of God resides within us, as long as we preach the word of God according to the spirit of God then the spirit of God will dwell amongst us and in this place.

He will change the hearts of men and replace with a clean heart, he will cause us to change from our wicked ways into a holy life. It is not for us to judge and decide who should be here and should not be, our job is to do us and do us to best of our ability in accordance with the word of God.

We need to listen carefully to Ezekiel when he speaks of God, he say he will do this and he will do that. Our job is to be willing, to be committed to the cause if you are going to spread the good news of God continue to spread it and tell others of the love of Christ.

You may look at a person and wonder why they live a certain way or live a particular lifestyle and yet share the word of God, well just remember it is God who will judge each person according to their own actions and intent of heart

What is important is that the word of God is being preached correctly and the spirit of job is on the scene doing his thing.
