The Importance of Forgiveness

Let’s give God some Praise!

Matt 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The reason for highlighting this scripture is because it comes immediately following the Lord’s Prayer. You see Jesus was in his teaching mode here, and he expressed something extremely important to those around and that was the importance of forgiveness.

When we harbor bad feelings towards those that have done us wrong, or those that have done wrong to someone we love, or someone we know. You see I have learned that a person those not have to do anything to you, for you to harbor bad feelings for a person.

Because we attach ourselves to the feelings of others, we tend to attach their dislikes along with it. If somebody did something to your BFF, then all of a sudden this person becomes nothing to you. Because this is such a natural reaction in humans, then it becomes important that you understand the consequences of your actions.

Life has a cycle of continuing on rather you are paying attention or not. You look up and it is five years later. Somebody says hey have you seen Betty Lou lately, and you say I don’t talk to her, and I don’t care what she is going through.

You may think that you are not that type of person, but I need to tell you, that yes you are. And because you have been harboring these feelings of dislike for this person for all these years for something that they did not do to you personally; then you are in fact living in a state of un-forgiveness.

The time is at hand, it is time that you release those past grudges that you have been holding on to for all these years. It is time that you do some serious soul searching and ask God father is there is anything within me, if there is anybody that I have a dislike for, please Lord take it away from me, cause me to love my brother and sister like I love myself.

Once you have sincerely said this prayer unto God then you have freed yourself that you may have holding.

Then comes the next part, what about those that you personally dislike today because they did something to you. Well you are going to have to forgive them too.

Without forgiveness there will be no mercy from God.

James 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Let me sum this up, I need to impress this on you, when you live in a state of un-forgiveness you are living in a state of sin. Make no mistake there is an importance in forgiveness, you cannot go through life harboring ill thoughts and dislikes for people, this is not a character of the people of God.
