Let’s Give God Some Praise!
Last week we began our series on Back to basics. Reason being is that often times we take for granted that you know the simplicity of Christ and Salvation. But the reality is that a lot of people only know what was passed down to them and not what they learned reading the word.
We are thought by the word of God. I need to stress this understanding, that it is the word of God that is the foundation of what we learn and what we believe.
Do not get caught up on the image of the person that sits in the pulpit for he is a man or woman that is a servant of God and is capable of making mistakes.
But I am here to tell you that the word of God never changes, it does not adapt to the time nor change with the season. There is no day light savings version of the word of God. The Bible says Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
People want you to believe that the foundation and understanding of God changes as the years but I need you to know that is a lies. God’s word never changes.
I said this last week, in order to believe in God you first must have faith in God. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
In spite of what you see in spite of what you feel, in spite of what you assume, you have to get an acceptance in your heart that the Bible is the word of God and the word of God is the instructions of God and the direction of God.
I need to push that understanding because if you do not get that and believe that then walk and search for God is in vain.
It starts with faith in order to please God you first must have faith in God Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
This whole concept and ideology of the Christian faith, trust and belief in God stems from one understanding, and that is your trust and understanding in Christ and your faith in Christ.
You can’t see it or touch it, nor can you smell it. But it is a requirement that you must begin to incorporate in your heart and mind. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
I need you to understand that this is a two part operation 1 being that you must hear the word of God somebody needs to explain it and teach it to you, the second part is that you also must read the word of God to yourself. You need to hear it for yourself, you need to process into your memory, and you need to absorb it into your way of life.
This word needs to become a constant part of your life. It is not just a book that was written, it is not just a tool that was used to keep people passive, it is not something that sits on the edge of your grandmothers coffee table.
This is the living breathing word of God, it is to be respected, honored and obeyed.
John 6:51 (KJV)
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
